How much should i be paid?

I am applying to be a tutor. I am a diploma undergrad. And this is my first time to tutor someone. But i have no idea how much i should be getting paid. How much should i be paid per hour??

My mom has a masters degree and tons of teaching experience, and she charges $40 an hour

For a college grad with no teaching experience/specialized training, I'd say about $20-$30 an hour (depending on the standard where you live).  A specialized tutor (for example one with training to tutor dyslexic students) makes $60/hr.  Of course, I live in an area of California with one of the highest costs of living in the country, high school students here work for $10/hr. ;-)

I would say $10/hour would be good pay for an undergrad.  I don't think the level of student should make much of a difference.

The amount a tutor earns is based on subject, geographic location, and demand.  I have heard pay ranges for tutoring to be USD$10 an hour up to about USD$40 an hour, depending on these variables.  The ability of the tutor-er is another factor.
