I'm a 16 year old to be senior [in 1 week] in high school -living in Davis, CA- and i just recently received a request to tutor a 6th grade girl and a 6th grade boy in writing, reading, grammar, etc. They are Korean and recently came to the states to live for the time being. Depending on how my school schedule turns out, i will be meeting with them either 2 or 3 times a week for 2 hour session in which i will be guiding them, teaching them in writing. I was also asked to tutor them together.

So back to my whole question, how much should i charge per student? $10-15 sound right? or should i charge less since i'm working with them together?

thank you so much ^o^

  1. Usually if its a professor teaching some difficult subject like calculus they'll charge 20-30$ an hour.

But if your teaching 6th graders and your a senior 12 - 15$ sounds perfect. I dont think 20$ an hour would be too much either. But defintely no higher.

    Good luck ! :)

  2. Teachers get paid $40/hour to tutor after school and during summer hours.  Since you are a HS student, not a certified teacher, I would say a reasonable amount would fall around the $10-15/hour/child.  Since you will be working with them together, I would charge between 20-30/hour.

    Good Luck!

  3. no! it is totally not enough! i taught last year( i was 17) n my charging system is diferent! i charge 5$ perday n their parents asked to teach for 3 times a week n an hour n half so i charged each of them 60$ permonth! 15$ is too cheap! not enough for u!
