Can't say about the Bay Area, but here in Tennessee, daycare, or babysitting is costing people $50.00-$60.00 per week per child.

    Hope this helps.

Seems like the Bay area would stand more and depends on WHO you are doing the sitting for. (Financial Status)

  2. Depending on what kind of skills you have that is what the price depends on. For example if you were CPR certified than you would obviously charge more than a person who isn't. If you just know how to watch kids and have a great attitude I would charge $15 per hour. This may seem like a lot but when you really think about it people usually hire babysitters only for a few hours. If you want to give discounts to people you can do that too and get more business. For example you charge $15 per hour, but let's say that someone wants to hire you for like 8 hours so you would do this: Anyone who hires you for more than 6 hours will get a discount of $10 per hour. I hope you get what I am saying. Of course you could do the discount however you want you can say if someone hires you for more than 4 hours or something like that. After awhile you may even want to give loyalty discounts to the customers who use your services all the time or who refer you. Start at around $15 but no lower than $12 that way you can still use the discount $10 per hour thing. Good luck!

  3. (I'm in Australia, so we're talking Australian dollars here.) I have 2 kids, aged 9 & 6. When I have a babysitter (usually teenagers around your age), I pay them $10 an hour, plus cabfare home. I also round it up to the next hour, for instance, if I'm away for 4.5 hours, I'll pay them $50. I live in a small town so the cabfare is usually under $10.

I think that's a reasonable price to pay for a trustworthy babysitter.

Translate that into your currency (US?), and it might give you a starting point. Good luck with your new business venture!
