I'm in a wedding party. There's about 7 of us. I'm helping pay for the bachelor party. Instead of renting a tux, we all purchased suits ($150). I'm not the best man, but i've been friends with him since i was about 7. We're 28 now. I'm also not bringing a date to the wedding.

I was the one of the best men for both of my brother's weddings. I gave $500 to each of them.

What should my gift be to my buddy?

  1. i would say to give him between 100 to 200 dollas because u are not the best man and i think that everyone will be giveing money to so u dont have to worrie if u think u are being cheap i mean for my cousins weding i gave in 200 dollars and everyone else gave in like 100 or 50 dollars

  2. if you can comfortably give $500 to your brother, $300 sounds good for your friend. Very generous, I would bet some of his own family won't give that much.

  3. I would suggest $100-$200. Like you said you are not the best man, and you have already put so money money ni the affair. 100-200 is the average amount of money that is given in a wedding anyways.

  4. It sounds like you're already paying for some things, so the wedding gift does not need to be as much.  My husband's best man spent about $200 total, and we're spending about $300 for them (we got married July 19th, they're getting married this Saturday, August 16th).

  5. You are generous!! $500 is alot for a 28 year old to give. . . for your friend who is getting married, since you've already spent money on the suits and party planning, I would give $200-250.

  6. I have been in 3 wedding parties so far and we always went in on one substantial gift as a group with each member paying the same amount.  I feel 100-150 is a fair contribution based on how expensive it can be to be in a wedding party

  7. good question! that is the biggest thing i hear about weddings the party never gets a gift!  even if it was a little token of love works!

no one says they just want cash but i say since your in the wedding i would say an amount either in gift form or cash

    5-200 bucks!

or total up the amount you spent and subtract that from 500 bucks!

  8. Wow you are generous! I'd say that even half of that amount would be wonderful!
