The car has a small scrape/dent on the front of the hood. I think they were going to get it out but its paint missing too. So what should I offer to pay them? Kelly Blue Book says $8,300 for excellent condition but the car isnt in excellent condition and i am looking to put $1,000 cash down.

  1. www.autotrader.com

Check the local market for that type of car. Edmunds.com TrueMarketValue can be helpful too.

Where I live the dealers use Galves.com to set the wholesale prices based on the auction market. You can buy a one day pass for the info you need. The best investment you can ever make.

  2. An 01 Nissan seems reasonable to me. I think that would be the time when Ford hadn't yet bought Nissan. So the car should be in decent shape. Plus the miles are low too.

KBB isn't the rule to go by. Its very inaccurate a lot of times. You haven't mentioned any options on the car such as Power Windows locks etc.

Edmunds suggests a TMV of 5100

I'll try to bargain to get him to match that or lower than that. Else I will say have a nice day and walk out of there.
