Honey no matter what level you're on, the more you read the better you'll get. You should read as much as you want and the more the better.

Read for your schoolwork, obviously, but then try to read at least an extra half hour a day for fun.  You can pick whatever's interesting to you, so you'll enjoy it, and it will help make you an even stronger reader.

Different people read at different levels at age 12.  Many 12-year-olds can read pretty much whatever interests them.  What do you like? Mysteries, fantasies, nonfiction, realistic fiction, science fiction, poetry, historical fiction ... whatever you enjoy is a good choice.  If it seems way too easy (like something you easily could have read a couple of years ago) then you might want to make a harder choice (harder books usually have better stories, anyway).  If there are five or more words on a page that you don't know, then try making an easier choice.  You can ask your friends what they're reading or you can ask a librarian for suggestions (most librarians have lots of good advice; if you tell them what you like they can usually suggest another good thing that you'll probably also like).

As much as she wants to at whatever level she can comprehend what she is reading.  For instance my 11 year old reads at a college level.  But she is also a genius with an IQ of 165 and began reading at age three.
