I have a 21' 1989 Sea-Ray open bow and the floor, stingers, and carpet needs replaced. Does anyone know about how much that should cost to have someone do the work?

Thanks

Nate

  1. These are serious problems.  If you have having a marina do it, it will cost half of what the boat is worth (assuming all stringers are rotted).

The only way to save this boat (without breaking the bank) would be to do this as a "do it yourself" project.

  2. The floor&carpet is figured by square footage normally.Stringers are another job.Are they to be cut out,or just another layer of fiberglass.Or rienforced with alum.angle,wood,steel.There are lots of opciones.Prices vary depending on where you live. Also quality materials or cheap.Last of all what warranty, qualified shop,or back yard shed.

  3. is it insured if not your stuffed

  4. Nate,

Alot of the cost to repair will depend on how much damage there really is.  You may not totally know until someone can look at it for sure.  It will also depend on if you have fiberglass or wooden stringers.  I would estimate around $2000, but I could be wrong.  My dad has done some of this type of work in the past.  I know it sounds a little funny, but some car body shops (if you have fiberglass stringers) may know how to fix this problem.  You will have to check around.  There is a guy in my area that always has boats in his shop, so check around.  If there is too much damage, it may be more cost effective to buy a different boat.  I guess it will really depend in how good of shape the rest of the boat is in & how much you want to put into it to fix it.  Hope this helps.
