I don't care too much about it being pretty, but there a bay window is sagging, with about a half an inch gap starting to show at the top of the windows.

  1. This could be from not enough support under the bay window, or not enough support above the window.

Check the seatboard and see if it is level from the inside to the outside.

We usually install 4" x 4" supports under a bay window. We bolt 2 supports to the house, then another under the window coming out from the house, then notch in the angle 4" x 4" to from the support. We then cover them with job bent aluminum.

There is usually a roof system over top of a bay window if it is in a place where it isn't right up under the overhang or soffit of a home. Andersen used to offer a cable system to help support the weight of the window from above. I would think your problem is from not enough support under the window.

Or from supports that were not strong enough to hold the weight. Take a length of 4" x 4" long enough to span the window and purchase or rent a small hydraulic jack. Place the jack in the center of the 4" x 4" and slowly raise the jack watching to see if the window gap starts to close. A little pressure at a time is the key. You don't want to apply pressure too quickly as you may crack the center picture window (if you have one).

Once you get the window aligned, you can now reinforce the window as i mentioned with 4" x 4" s or you can Pour a concrete footing under the outline of the window and then lay up brick or stone under it to support the window. If you do this, leave a few bricks/stones out so you can remove the jack and 4" x 4" s once the brick sets up (2-3) days.

  2. without more info all i can tell u is use a jack and jack it back to level and install some braces under it to the ground or deck .....

  3. With reasonable carpentry skills and a willingness to learn what you need to do, you can do this yourself.

I once knew a guy who needed to level his entire house, so he went out and bought about 20 small hydraulic jacks from a local tool importer who had them on sale for about $20 a pop.

He carefully used them to lift the settled part of the house in stages, and in time he eventually got the house level.

He then went around trying to sell his used hydraulic jacks to everybody he knew.
