  1. Better question, Why?

  2. Hi Kathy,,,normal cost is the Usual,,"It all depends"

    lol:)

There's some variables involved which determine price.

    Mostly according to engine TYPE,,,

whether 2 Stroke or 4 Stroke.

Also the amount of work involved in installing a particular kit,,,,some are very basic and straightforward, while others are more complex and involved.

Parts-wise,,,Kits range from $50 to about $150 for average type ,basic kits.

    From there,,"Sky's the limit"

That price range would cover either type engine.

Labour to have a Shop install  it,,and get it set-up and running can be from as little as 1 Hr  to maybe 3 Hrs labour charges.

Average flat rate is $60~75  per hour

So,,,Parts and labour Total can be as Low as $125~150 area   ,,,up to $300~350.

As a good guess average,, I'd say to expect around $200~250 range.

Hi-Performance/Exotic Parts will jack the price Up FAST.

So will and special preparation, assembly ,or tuning.

If You get quotes beyond $250,,,You'll want to ask questions and be Certain You know what you are paying for and if thats what You really Want or NEED.

By the same token,,,if Price seems Very Low,,,

    thats worth questioning also.

Some KITS are very low quality,,,,and priced accordingly.

It way be a better VALUE  to spend an extra $25~50 on better parts.

Or,perhaps the Labour quote is low because it doesn't include a Tune-Up,,or Rejetting Carb,,,or a valve job on a 4stroke for example.

Maybe CHEAP because it's just straight, basic "Bolt On the Kit"

Your BEST BET for an accurate figure is going to be calling 'round Locally and discussing it the folks whom you plan to have do the work.

Anyway,,,$200~250 Total  is probly a good ball park figure.

If it's way far out of that range,,,be sure to find out exactly what you're getting for your money.

Sorry I cannot be more specific---the variables are almost infinite.

But it should give you a usefull idea of at least a typical price range for good average Parts and typical labour.

Good Luck,,I hope all turns out well & it's lottsa fun.

  3. Depends on how the mechanic is billing his time, flat rate or true hourly rate.  Flat rate is generally better if you want it done soon, as he has incentive to get the job done.

Of course, he usually looks up the job in a book that says, 17 hours or some such figure and multiplies that be his hourly rate.  If he is faster, all the same to your bill. If something unexpected come along he may put your project on a backburner and take forever and charge you hourly.  How he determines the rate for YOUR project would be rather different. First there is unlikely to be a job calling for him to replace the jugs on your  scooter. So its all up to the mechanic, isn't it.

  4. There are better ways to go than bore it out. Search out MRP and look at what they have to offer. Motorcycle Racing Products

  5. They make 70cc kits that practically bolt on as a replacement to the 50cc head and cylinder for a few hundred bucks I think.  So add labor to that.
