  1. Well, depending on ages, more for babies and little ones that require lots of care and attention and less for older ones. Most people have an idea of what they are willing to pay. I pay my babysitter $25 a day year round for a 7 and 8 year old...during school she has them 2 hours a day, but vacations, holidays and summer full time so it balances out. Boys or girls shouldn't matter, age does. If this is a full time steady deal, remember to work out the specifics, if the parent doesn't bring the child, you should still get paid but if you cancel without a set holiday schedule, should they pay?  Babysitting is a valuable commodity, our children are precious, people should be willing to pay for their care, after all, you are replacing the parents for so many hours a day. It has been my experience, you get what you pay for in daycare. Tell your mom, God bless...it's not an easy job!

  2. five dollars an hour

  3. You can't charge different rates for boys and girls but you can charge different rates for different ages. It depends on where you live and how much experience the sitter has.

Where I live (Colorado) teens charge between $6.50-$8.50 per hour for the first kid and maybe another $1-$2 for each additional kid from the same family. Babies under 12 months are usually more. Adults or more experienced sitters charge anywhere from $10-20 per hour.

I don't know what the laws are in Texas-- but there are rules about how many kids you can watch without becoming a licensed childcare home.

She might check on Craigslist to see what the going rate is in your area or check the newspaper classifieds.

  4. What state?  I ask because I'm in Texas and we do things much cheaper than say, California.

    I'm thinking 4-5$/hr

  5. well i live in nj and adults usually pay $10 hr Im looking at these other answers and cant believe wat a difference there is.

  6. i charge a basic rate of about $5 an hour and add more with other things, like if it is a tiny baby, or if it is more than one kid.  good luck!!
