How much should new sod cost?

Hi,

We have a contractor coming out to our home monday night to give us an estimate on some new sod in our back yard. the area that we want to have sodded is 1600 square feet. Can anyonw tell me how much this job should appx cost me? Including preparing the ground and installing the sod. Most landscapers take one look at me and see Sucker written all over me and I don't want to be taken advantage of.....does the sod cost different amounts per square feet in different parts of the state? or is it pretty much the same....we live in Pa,

Home Depot sells sod. Ask them the price/sq ft.

Ask him what kind of sod he recommends and why.

Ask him how much amendment he'll be using, and what kind.He'll get it cheaper than you could since he'll buy it by the cubic yard, but it's good to have a commitment.

Ask him if he guarantees it in any way.

Get two estimates, and compare their answers.
