How much should our top NRL players be paid??

In an ideal world with no salary cap how much would JT, GI, Izzy, Billy, Cam, Gaz, and Locky get per year??

Well since they are primarily entertainers, should the top players earn as much as Nicole Kidman or Russell Crowe ?That seems a bit extreme but in terms of value for money, why not ? Then again should a sportsman be earning more than a surgeon or any other professional person who spends 10 years in training ? In real terms, what can the game afford ?

In an ideal world they should play for the club and not the money.

Like in other parts of the world in sport, whatever the market will bear. The salary cap allows for equal distribution of funds for the clubs to spend. The players should also be allowed third party contracts to top up their NRL contracts without impinging on the salary cap. At present there are too many restrictions on third party payments.

But it all comes down to what the market will bear and not what the players want.
