Question:

How much should you run everyday to get your legs slimmer?

I already do squats which really help my thighs, but my calves are still...not exactly what anyone can call slim. I know running will help, but does anyone have any idea on how much you should run everyday? I know its something more than a mile...does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

  1. running is good, but i think i get more results with walking. the other day my friends and i walked three miles or more and ive been walking and riding my bike every day since and my legs are getting slimmer. by walking you use alot of the muscles in the legs and that makes your legs look long and slim. by running you will work the muscles harder and your legs will look muscular. so i would say go for a long walk with some one everyday or every other day and youd be good. this burns alot of calories too. hope i helped.

  2. runing will make muscles not making ur legs slims so maybe u should lose some weight

  3. My dear,

The main benefit you get from running is in your cardiovascular system. Whenever you run, it's not just your legs that get stronger, it's actually your heart, lungs, and entire circulatory system. Having a strong heart into advanced old age actually helps keep you strong, independent, and disease-free. So, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE continue running.

On the other hand, if you want slimmer legs, then you should have chosen other parents to be born under. :) Slim calves are more genetic than they are environmental. What helps is a lot of stretching and a lot of Pilates exercises for toning. Every person is different in where his or her body deposits fat, and yours just happen to be in your calves. I'm not particularly proud to say all my fat gets deposited in my belly, but I live with it (abdominal bicycle crunches, reverse crunches, and a good exercise routine helps). Don't get your expectations too high, because chances are, you can never get the legs of a certain Heidi Klum. I can't get the abs of a certain Usher either.

So my advice? Live with it. Strive to feel healthy and strong, and your confidence will probably win you more affection than slim calves EVER would.

  4. Spot reduction only exists if you have surg. If you loose weight through exercise and diet, you will loose weight throughout yr. body.  If you loose so much that yr skin does not go back down to size, use a cut down belly slimmer for short periods during the day in order to help your own body's elasticity to regain it's original size and shape.   The belly slimmer does not help you loose weight.  It is made of nylon/elastane material and helps your body regain it's shape after pregnancy or period of being overweight.   Buy 1 cut it down to the size you need and use it as you loose weight.

  5. First, I'm a long-time runner.  Running WILL make your legs slimmer.  You don't bulk up if you do a lot of training.  Doing squats WILL make your legs bigger since it's muscle training and not cardio.

Here's the thing.  Running everyday will lead to injury.  You'll end up hurting yourself from fatigue, overuse, and wear-and-tear.

Try running 3 times a week for three miles.  Once you do that for a month, up it to 4 times a week.

Then, start doing a longer run on the weekend (5-8 miles), and three short runs during the week (Tues-Wed-Thurs  3 miles-4 miles-3 miles).  You HAVE to give yourself time to heal and repair your body, or you'll have problems.

    Good luck!
