  1. You will be expected to tip the head waiter, waiter & assitant waiter. Each of them will play apart in our whole dinning experience. On Royal Carribean the head waiter came around & deboned the duck for everyone. He was in tune with my needs when I had the lamb chops & brought extra for me.

There is a guide on the ship that you can read that recomends what to tip to whom. They supply envelopes for this as well. Don't forget the room attendants they get one as well.

  2. You don't have to tip them, its a personal option.

  3. $10

  4. Unless they actually do something for you, it is not necessary to tip them.  Your waiter and busboy are the ones doing all the work, tip them.  The maitre'd is there to make sure everything is being taken care of.  If you have any special requests that they help you with, by all means tip them.  Judge your tip on the service they are providing for you.  If your request is rather simple, $5-$10 seems fine.  If it is more involved, $15-$20 might be more appropriate.  I have been on a dozen cruises and had only one experience where I had to tip the maitre'd.

  5. The Maitre'd on a cruise is not as important in terms of influencing him / her, as your dinning seating is pre-allocated so you will be told where you are sitting, a 10$ is justifiable. Make sure you tip your waiting staff.
