How much should you tip when on vacation in puerto plata,dr?

It depends on how well you think they treat you. and how much you can afford to tip. but normally it is between 10-20% of the regular bill.

if you are staying at an all-inclusive resort, tip you maid, bartender/waiter a couple of dollars a day. You will get fantastic service.

If you are staying at a resort that is not all-inclusive, tip like you would at home. Good service, reward with the customary tip of 15-20%. Lousy service, you know what to do.

The people of Dominican Republic depend on tips just like others in the service industry.

Of course always check your bill, sometimes restaurants add a service charge on to the bill. I have never had that happen to me in DR but in other islands they do this.

All depends where you are. For ex. if you arrive at your hotel, I advise to tip the room staff with some money (pesos) and at the start of your stay, it will improve the given service. For the rest the tips can be given during the excursion to the guide and sometimes to people who helped you to have a beautiful holiday. Never give to much or to little.
