How much silver is in .952?

i have a sterling silver chain that is 20 inches long and weights 94 grams the end says either 92.5 or.952 but i cant find any that are 92.5 so i think it has to be .952 how much silver is in that and is it worth buying a chain that is 18 inches .952 sterling silver and 28 grams thank you for the help

  1. It is 92.5% pure silver. Therefore your chain will have 92.5% of 28g silver = 25.9g silver.  The present price on New York Metal market is $17.5/oz This is the Troy oz which is 31.1g

    Your chain has a metal value of $14.57. You must add on any value that you think the artistic merit of the chain deserves. But as a commodity, the above is its value


  2. 925 is the closest you can get to pure silver.

    It is sterling silver 925 not 92.5 pure as you can get without buying pure silver bars or coins from the mint.
