How much slack should the chain have in a new process 241 transfer case .Every thing else looks good.?

was getting noise and vibration on acceleration and it doesn't seem as bad in 4WD as in 2WD.Gears and bearings all like new,but chain has app.2" of slop.

chain worn out should not have over 3/4 deflection if gears are centered.This will not be the noise in 2wd. most likely working angle of the joints max of 7 degree on each joint
