Question:

How much sleep should I get and why?

My friend and I usually have an argument over how much sleep we should really get and when we should sleep. He sleeps late and I told him that's it better to sleep earlier. He said that it doesn't matter because he sleeps late and gets up late. I, however, believe that sleeping early and waking up early is better for your body. Who do you agree with? Details? Thanks.

  1. All people are not the same.  If your schedule allows you to go to bed late and sleep late and you get the same amt. of sleep as it you went to bed early and got up early its the same.  It is what your body gets used too.  But the rule of thumb is 7-8 hrs sleep per night or day.

  2. Your right because if you sleep late, and wake up late your body will feel really weak. And plus that's bad for your body. Your body will start feeling lazy, tired, and all the slow things that can occur. If you sleep early and wake up early you will feel refresh, energized. and you have a long exciting day waiting for you.

  3. 8-10 hours is usually best. it all depends on your age.

but it really doesnt matter when you get those hours in. (morning or night).....just as long as you get them.

  4. I agree w/ you. 8 hrs a day keeps the doctor away.

  5. It doesn't matter. It's the amount of hours that matter. Get 8 hours sleep. You need 8 to repair your cells, give your heart a rest. Sleeping too little also packs on the pounds, according to new research.
