How much should a person expect to spend per day in USD in London, Paris and Brussels. I'm talking strictly food on a budget, metros and taxis, and activities.

  1. $300

  2. In London you can buy a daypass for the tube that costs 6 GBP. If you plan on being there for over a week get an Oyster card (purchase it at any tube station) and put a week pass on it (3 GBP for the card, 23 GBP for the week pass). The Oyster is their electronic tube/bus card, similar to the Octopus in Hong Kong. There's no need to pay for taxis unless you want to burn through money very quickly.

There are wonderful little sandwich places called Pret a Manger or E.A.T. all over the city where you can get a sandwich and a drink for about 5 or 6 GBP  and they are very tasty and not soggy. Or you can go to Boots (the drug store) and they have lunch combos where you get a sandwich, bottled drink and snack for 4.95 GBP. When it comes to food - don't think conversion rates. If you plan to dine out, plan for about 30 GBP per person to be safe. Avoid the regular tourist traps like Hard Rock Café and check out some local Thai or Indian places.

Museums in London are free (and there are LOTS of wonderful museums), admission to the palaces and churches (Westminster, St. Paul's) are about 10-20 GBP depending on the place. If you plan on taking a guided bus tour around London to see "the sights" or taking a day trip those are usually about 60 GBP+ (not including gratuities to the guide or the driver).

I haven't been to Paris or Brussels extensively so I can't give you too much detail.

If you are downtown Brussels, everything is pretty much walkable from what I remember. From the main old city square to the Mannequin Pis was about 10 minutes walking.

Generally it's best to plan for $100 US a day. You may go over one day, and not on another but it's better to have enough money with you when you go on vacation than to not have enough.

    Have a great trip!

  3. plan on spending about 10000 yen. i'm not sure what that comes into in dollars, even though i'm american.

  4. Always depends on activities. But I would say make sure u got at least 100 bucks a day. It should be enough.

  5. Roughly twice (possibly a little more than) what you would pay in NYC or DC.
