How much spending money should i take (and be comfortable) on a 5 day vacation to tulum mexico?

I try to think about how much it would cost to eat out at every meal, first.  (Depends on how many people are going..?) Then think about how much money you can budget for shopping and souvenoirs.  Only YOU know your budget.  I saw the other answer for $3,000... to me that's funny (no offense) because that's more than we're planning on spending on our whole trip to Mexico City/Ciudad del Carmen next month.  I'm budgeting $100-$150/day for food, then probably an extra couple hundred for shopping, depending on how many things we decide to buy.

OH, and have fun in Tulum, we went there last year (for a week and survived on about $500 total)...it's SO beautiful.  While you're in that area you just HAVE to go to Xel-Ha.  It's about $90/person (all inclusive: meals, snacks, drinks, alcohol, snorkeling equipment, lockers, towels) and you WON'T regret going...look it up!!

$50 a day Is a viable start. Beer is a dollar each . I can eat at local mom and pop resturants for about 3 to 4 dollars. Cigarettes are about 2.50 dollars. 25 miles in a taxi maybe 4 to 5 dollars. You dont have to tip in Mexico.

These are just some general prices on goods here.

Sunglasses maybe 8 dollars. A beach towel 7 to 8 dollars. Coke 50 cents.

Is  your stay in an all inclusive resort?  That would make a difference as far as having money to spend on food.  We are going to an all inclusive and plan on taking about $3,000. That way we can go to Xcaret and do some shopping, etc.
