Hi, there's a transportation center that it's opening in my area (southern California) and they are leasing an area for a coffee shop that's 159sf. I am interested in starting my coffee shop but I do not have any knowledge or money on how to start one. My question is how much money money should I tried to raise for the start-up cost of the business knowing that I have to buy all the machinery. Also, how big of a loan can I get if I'm 21 and haven't start it my credit?

Thanks in advance. =)

  1. $1.25, but it would be a very little coffee shop -- teeny in fact.

  2. You need to make contact with SCORE, the are retired professionals that can advise people with no experience in business. Also check for SBA lenders on the internet to see about qualifing for a small business loan.

You should have a minimum of 6 months operating expenses, plus the cost to get open. That cost to open will depend on the amount of work needed in the 159 sq ft location. If you need to move drains, water and electric it can jump up there.

Figure at least $20K to $50K.

  3. You sound like you may have a passion for coffee shops but not much knowledge of business practices, the big thing in starting a business is understanding the demographic & geographic surroundings if you have competition ie starbucks what will make you stand out above them, if money is your driving force above coffee passion then Check out this press release:

  4. Go to http://www.score.org/template_gallery.ht... and download the Excel template for estimating start up costs.
