How much stuff do you cram into your baby bag?

Do you mean the diaper bag? I just have 4 diapers generally, and some wipes, a breastfeeding cloth, a light change of clothes. That packing is for when we go to mall, Target, on short trips.  Everything else you need you can leave in the car.  I use a small bag and throw my wallet in too. I have had 2 kids in diapers for years now, and know it is easier to pack light!  If your baby is older, have a small separate bag with snacks (Cheerios, Fruit puffs), a cup, bib, face wipes more meals.  ** Actually, to add: I also keep 2-3 quart size ziploc bags, for diaper explosions just in case not near a trash can!  I actually just use the free bag that the hospital gave me, I have never bought a diaper bag.  I think medium size is best, washable of course, darker colors would hide stains, some zipper pockets for change, small stuff (like a pouch for your wallet, cell phone).  I prefer to have a shoulder strap since sometimes your hands are busy getting baby in/out of car, stroller, long enough to go across your body.  Also with a long strap you can put the bag over the stroller handles I have found, that saves space for basket under stroller.

Here's what I like in a bag:

a zipper top - not a snap or flap, I don't want my stuff to fall out

one or two dividers inside

an inside side zip or two, or one zip plus pockets on the other side

one or two outside pockets

Now that my son is older, I don't need to carry as much. I have a little thing that holds 3 diapers and wipes. The other stuff (crayons, small toys, a cup) just falls to the bottom.

In an actual diaper bag I like to have a bottle holder or two on the outside (one for him, one for my water bottle).

For size, I like a medium to large tote. Something I can put over my shoulder with one hand since the baby is in the other hand.

I would love a diaper bag with a smaller matching purse (big enough to hold phone, wallet, lipstick, keys) that I can grab out of the bag if I'm just running into the store.

Or a diaper bag with a little bag to hold all the little things I like to have in there (diaper cream, tylenol, nailclippers); about the size of a small makeup bag.
