I am trying to find a good breakfast item for my daughter and almost everything we look at has at least 17 gms of sugar. I think that is way too much for a morning meal before school. Then I was thinking what is a normal amount of sugar in a day. Does anyone know?

  1. Whole wheat toast/muffin, eggs, low fat meats, oatmeal, fresh fruits, non-sugary cereals, milk.

I think most breakfast bars, and convenience foods will have too much sugar, and not enough fiber or protein which is needed to maintain concentration.

^ Exactly what you're looking for!

  3. My nutritionist told me for morning cereal it should no exceed 11 grams per serving.  there are many cereals she has found she can eat and loves.  you would actually be surprises.

Just be careful, a lot of cereals are now claiming"less sugar".  check the ingreadients.  they are using sugar substitues.  I dont know about you but I dont want my child eating that.
