Hi. I'm going to visit Langkawi soon and was wondering if I were to buy more than 1 litre of liquor, say 2 litres, how would they calculate the tax charges? I need to know this so I can feel more comfortable when I go shopping. Thanks!

  1. if you lucky you can get away with it. or just ask your friend or family to take the other bottle for you

  2. its a duty free island.anyway if you wish to take out goods from langkawi, you will have to pay 50% tax of the purchased value. i hope i am right.

  3. stay more than three days to entitle a free tax.(as far as i know)

  4. All depend on the item you purchase.

For you information, if you are local, you have to stay for more then 72 hours in order to entitle for the duty free purchases.

Duty for liquor is around 40-50%.
