  1. you cannot calculate taxes on $20/per hour.  how many hours are you working?  taxes are calculated on the total amount of income you earn and the dependents you claim.  a rough estimate would be 27 to 33 percent.  if you only work 5 hours there is only ss to be paid.  i am not sure of ct taxes.  are you a high school student that is another story.


  2. If the person is self employed or independent contractor, then he/she must report income on schedule C or C-EZ. He/she can deduct business related expenses. On the net income, there is SE tax at 15,3%.

    Then there is federal income tax and state income tax.

    Depends on total income from all sources which will be on tax return

    Basically for self employment it's 15% for SS and Medicare then about the same for FIT and SIT
