  1. depends how far your going

  2. The Action Bus Service (Canberra's public bus service) runs all over Canberra and has a "one fare anywhere" policy - this means that you can ask for a "transfer ticket" to be used an unlimited number of times within a 90 minute period. This is great if you need to transfer accross multiple buses to get to your destination! Canberra buses are very reliable and usually wont run more than a few mins ahead or behind time.

Fare prices for these Action Public Buses are:

    - Adult: $3.00 (for one trip or 90 min transfer ticket)

    - Concession/Student: $1.50 (one trip or transfer ticket)

Daily tickets ($6.60 for an Adult) can be purchased on the bus also, but weekly tickets, monthly tickets or "10 ride" tickets are to be purchased from newsagents and other places.

Check out their website for this info and more:

    As for Canberra cabs:

They have a minimum charge of $2 or $3 that automatically gets added on to any fare between 9pm and 6am.

Their website has a "fare calculator" where you can select your origin and destination and it will estimate a fare for you!

The average fair to get from Canberra Airport into the city will cost you a little over $20 by taxi.

  3. Minimum travel fare? Depends on how far you are travelling.

Flag fall in a taxi is around $3.50 (I think)

Taxi in Canberra is expensive! And can be rather unreliable.

Buses? quite cheap - for fares.. go here http://www.action.act.gov.au/
