How much time and how many men does it take to build an airliner?

I need to know how many men (workers) and how much time it takes to build a real airliner from start to finish. Any airliner is good (ex: CRJ200, 747, 737, A330, A380, etc.)

And if you've got sources, that would be important also!

Whoever can provide me good info and an good source gets a best answer award!

  1. Definitely varies from airliner to airliner. And from factory to factory too.

A CRJ-200/700/900 whatever will not take as long as 747, but will still take a long time none the less. IIRC a 747 takes somewhere in about 7 months to a year...?

  2. The time it takes to build an airliner is dependent on many factors the main one being how large and skilled the workforce is.

The Boeing 747 Takes about a week to build in their main assembly plant in Everette, Washington.  It takes about 1500 men altogether to complete a 747 because of its advanced engineering.  Although 1 week is not accurate as the 747 still has to fitted out which will take about 3 weeks.

So from start to finish it takes about a month to completely fit a plain so it is ready to fly.
