How much time and money do you need to hire a talent agent?

at the age of 18?

is there a lot of traveling involved? do parents have to be involved?

  1. you don't hire them.. they sorta hire you..

    They get paid when you get paid.

    and you're 18 so not parents dont.


  2. Agents make money by taking a percentage of whatever income they bring in for the talent they decide to contract with. If an "agent" wants $$ from you up front, then they aren't a legitimate agent. That's not how it works!! : /

  3. actually it depends on the agent but you have to pay them like once then you only have to pay them everytime they find you a gig or al least thats what it is for my friends agent!

Parents don't have to be involved if you are over 18, and you don't need any money as franchised agents take 10 percent of the money you make acting.  Getting an agent is more difficult, and there are many ways to do it.  mailing your headshot and resume to offices sometimes will get you an interview, but only rarely.  The best way is to get a referral from somebody in the acting industry; like a casting director or another actor with representation.
