  1. I will get 7 weeks with full pay (assuming it's a vaginal birth w/o complications--9 if c-section).  After that, I can either get 1/2 pay if my doctor certifies that I'm "temporarily disabled," or no pay under FMLA.  I can't really afford the no-pay option, though, because I have bills to pay.

  2. My step-mom took Nov. 30 (the day my brother was born)-March something off. She just used all her sick days (she's a teacher).

  3. I am planning on asking to take 8 weeks of maternity leave. I however won't get paid while I am gone. We don't get paid time off or sick leave here.

  4. I do not get paid for maternity leave. I have about 5 vacation days and 0 sick days-because we don't get them. I am going to use all of my vacation-even though I don't plan on returning to work for at least 6 weeks. For this very reason, I have no choice but to work up until my due date. Luckily, my desk job is not very stressful at all. There is much room for improvement for moms giving birth in this country!

  5. That's what I did, I get six weeks after the baby is born and I have been off since early July. But yea im using my vacation and sick time also.

  6. Im taking 22 weeks off I get 4weeks before the baby paid state disabilty and the first 6weeks paid disabilty and 12 weeks (FMLA) 6weeks paid and 6 weeks not paid

  7. I work at a company that gives great benefits.  I am planning to take 4 months off.  The first 6 weeks will be paid through disability.  I will get an additional one months pay from the company.  The rest is unpaid.  By the sound of things, I really lucked out.

  8. I am planning on taking my full 12 weeks that FMLA allows, but I will only get paid short term disabilty for 6-8 weeks depending on when my Dr releases me.  After that I have to use up my sick & vacation time.

  9. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo...

  10. im going to take either 6-8 weeks depending on what i have like vaginialk or c section. i am having to use my vacation and sick time but we have an emergency fund so i take off a week early to rest.

  11. 6 weeks and yes I get paid maternity leave

  12. i get 12 weeks (fmla). the first 6 are 60% paid and the second 6 are not paid. i could use vacation time but i am not going to since my work schedule is flexible as is my husband's. when i return to work we will only have to use daycare about 5-9 days per month.

  13. With my previous pregnancy I took off 5 months. This time I only plan on taking off 12wks.  Unfortunately I cannot afford to take off as much time.

No I did not get paid from my work.  I did collect state dissability for the first 6 weeks and in CA you can take an additional 6 weeks for personal fam leave and get paid dissability as well.  I don't know about other states.

  14. I am currently off 6 weeks paid.  I'm using short term disability, vacation time, and sick time to get all of it paid.

  15. In Canada it is one full year of Maternity Leave so my daughter-in-law will be finishing work a month before the baby is due and returning to work when the baby is 11 months old.  There is a Government payment to the parents of (I think) 60% pay.  Also, the father is allowed to take the one year off if the mother wishes to return to work and he can be the one staying home with baby!
