I am trying to fit Blarney Castle and the Rock of Cashel into the one day as far as sight seeing. Would anyone be able to suggest how long would be necessary to enjoy seeing both places. Thanks

  1. About 5 minutes for the pair of them. Once you've seen one castle you've seen them all.

  2. You'd need to be up early!

You realise there's agood two to three hours drive between them?

I'd suggest examining the opening times for both places, and seeing which one is open later, and doing the other one first, early in the morning.

  3. Blarney and the Rock of Cashel are only about an hour and a half apart (100km) so you can easily visit them both in one day. Blarney was one of the top experiences that I had in Ireland. I went in early April and there was a little bit of a line so depending on how busy it is, you may have a bit of a wait. Climbing to the top of the castle takes some time and nerves of steel if you have issues with heights or spiral staircases. The whole experience is a little frightening and exhilarating at the same time. Not to mention that I think they hire the oldest man in Ireland to slide your body out over the hole to kiss the stone. With all that said, I really enjoyed the Blarney Castle.

I was a little disappointed with the Rock of Cashel. There wasn't a lot to see and it wasn't particularly interesting. It was also covered in scaffolding for renovations when we were there as well. Our walk to the Rock took much longer than the amount of time we actually spent on the grounds. h**e Abbey was very pretty but we didn't go down to it but just took photos from Cashel.

If you are looking for something else to do near Blarney, Cobh is great. They have a museum, a gorgeous church, shops and its just a great city to walk around. Cobh was also the last port of call for the Titanic and the Lusitania.

    Have fun!!!
