(renting) We have written up a contract and paid $1,000 deposit. And the realtor and owner have yet to come up with a decision. The contract was written up July 23 (intent to rent). We think the owner is just waiting for more offers, we think its unfair. Do you think with the time that has passed we can get our deposit back?

  1. It is not the realtor's decision to make, it is the owners. But if the realtor is working for you, he should be getting your deposit back as you don't really have a contract. When a decision is made, and both parties have signed the contract, reinstate your deposit.

  2. In most cases an offer has, or should have, an expiration date.  If you have not received an answer by the date specified on the contract your offer is no longer valid and you are entitled to receive your money back.

  3. Your agent let you submit an offer without a deadline?

  4. What does your contract say?  h**l yeah, I would be calling this broker & demanding my deposit back.
