How much time does it take to get a visa number after the priority date become current?

my priority date is 19 JUN 02 "F2A" preference.

  1. There are lots of variables that affect your answer. The petition should already be at the National Visa Center and once the petition is current or close to being current, the petitioner is contacted and asked for an Affidavit of Support, along with a fee for evaluating it.  How long that takes depends on how long it takes the petitioner to get the form together and send it in. Some folks make mistakes or forget to attach tax filings, so sometimes the petitioner is asked to re-do it. Then it goes to the embassy and you're contacted and asked to provide various things like police reports and an immigration physical. How long that takes is up to you, really. Once you have everything requested and your ready to be interviewed, you are scheduled for a visa interview.  These various steps could take six months to a year.
