How much time does it take to get us citizenship once we apply for it?

i got my USA green card in march 2005.i can apply for USA citizenship on dec 2009.how much time does it take after applying for the citizenship.can we TRAVEL OUT OF COUNTRY ONCE WE APPLY FOR IT.

PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY QUESTIONS.

umm. actually u hav to wait 5 years till u apply for the citizenshop. and yes u could travel out of country wen u pass the test

you can travel on a green card as long as you dont stay out of the country longer than 6 months at a time.And unless you have a citizen spouse you have to wait 5 years from the time you recieve your green card to apply for citizenship. It can take as little as 6 months to a few years to get your citizenship.

you can travel out with your green card.. you're not turning that over until you get your citizenship certificate.... and depending on your location it may take anywhere from 6 months to several years...

all depends on how many people are applying at the same time

after you apply for your citizenship, it'll take anywhere between 6 months to a year before you get an interview notice....if you pass the interview, it'll be abt a month before the ceremony...my dad waited abt 8 months before he got an interview notice and this is post fee increase in july 2007 (that's when he turned in the application- before the fee increase)....

and yes, you can travel out of the `country when your application for citizenship is pending...my dad did..just make sure that wnen you're out of the country, to come back in time for your interview...and remember to carry your greencard so that you can come back!  good luck!
