  1. Here is what the Department of State says under renewal: "Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip and/ or have two to four blank visa/stamp pages. Some airlines will not allow you yo board if these requirements are not met.

    Hope this Helps :]

  2. You need to ask the government in quesiton and not trust this issue to YA.

Otherwise, just renew your passport shortly before your trip and aviod the stress.

  3. If you are an EU citizen you only need 24/48 hours left to re-enter the country.  Outsiders need to check with the appropriate embassy/consulate.

The day or so extra validity allows for any delays in departure/arrival.

  4. I know that you need 6months in your passport for you to be able to apply for a visa.

However if your holiday isn't for too long I think you will be fine with that.

  5. 6 months is PLENTY of time.... if it was a month i would check it out depending on what country your going to.... i went to japan and came back and only had like 3 weeks left on my passport.... have fun traveling... :D

  6. This is a funny one as different countries have different rules and it is not as simple as you would think to check up of each individual country.  To be on the safe side I would say allow six months. I think with this holiday you will be fine but check it all out thoroughly before you go with your local Passport Office.  Trying to get on to them on the phone can be a pain but have patience and insist when you eventually get through of a precise answer.

  7. If you have a UK passport of any other passport from the EU you have no problem.

Some countries such as the US require that your passport have at least 6 months validity. This isn't normally the case within the EU (for EU citizens) where a passport is valid until it has expired. According to the British Embassy:

"A valid British passport must be held for entry to and exit from Spain. There is no minimum passport validity requirement but you should ensure that your passport is valid for the proposed period of your stay."

So, your passport expires in August 2009, you will have no problem travelling to Spain before then. No risk at all. So don´t worry about it.

Not sure about travel from countries out side EU. Check information from your consulate in Spain.

  8. you need 6 months remaining from your expected date of RETURN to the UK to be able to travel on a visa as this allows for issues relating to unexpected delays and overstays  and that you will be able to leave the country with a valid passport.

if travelling within the EU the limit may be reduced to one month as no visa is required. Lanzarotte is not mainland Spain and so qualifies as NOT being the EU for travel purposes.

You have timed it to the DAY however if its a night flight arriving in the uk on the morning of the 29th then it will be refused!

  9. Most countries require you to have a least 6 months remaining on your passport, at the time of your travels.
