How much time should I allow for photography?

I am getting married at 6:00pm and we are having our photography done in a cemetery PRIOR to the ceremony. The ceremony & reception location are only a 5-10 minute drive from the cemetery. This is my schedule I've come up with. Does it sound reasonable? They originally were just going to do the pictures during cocktail hour so I don't think I would need much more time.

3:00-3:45: Photography at home

3:45-4:15: Travel time to cemetery

4:15-5:30: Photography at cemetery

5:30-5:45: Travel time to ceremony & reception location

Does this sound ok?

  1. Better would be to speak to your photographer and give him or her a list of the groupings you want (bride + groom + bride's fam, B+G + groom's fam, entire bridal party, blah blah blah) and then ask the photog how much time will be needed.  Last thing you want to do is rush the person who will be capturing your memories for a lifetime.

  2. I think that should be fine.  I had more people than that getting photographed in the photo shoot and we got all the photos we wanted in a little under an hour.

  3. It is probably fine.  The more people you have being photographed the more time you will want.  I think you have plenty of time for the photography, however you might want to leave yourself a little more time than just 15 minutes before the ceremony.

  4. It sound okay the way you wrote it, but I would be curious as to who would be in the photos in each location.  We did something similar, but had just wedding party and parents at a local garden, and then family photos at the house (ceremony site).  Obviously, the family photos had a lot more people involved with a lot more combinations of photos requested than the garden photos.  If it's all the same people, sounds good to me.  Just take that into consideration.
