  1. 2 weeks rest is what my coach gives us

  2. I'm gonna have to refute the last two answers.  Anywhere from 7 to 10 days would be an appropriate span of rest.  Taking off 7-10 days will only cause you to lose a small amount of what you built up during the track season.  Any longer and you'll have to work a lot harder to get back to where you were before you took the break.

  3. you could either continue running and increase your risk of injury.

or take 2 weeks off, to let your legs rest. yes, it will be hard when you start running again. but you will be feeling great and energized.

  4. Dont take any time off!!  Just think about all your competetors that are training harder and faster than you right now.  THat always motivates me to keep pushing!   Good luck!  =)

  5. take off about 2 weeks to give your legs some rest. Then start summer training.

  6. Heres the thing. Everyone is different and everyone requires different amounts of rest. There's no magical number of days to take off. Especially you as a younger girl might want to consider taking closer to two weeks off since those facts make you more susceptible to injury. Especially if you've had any injuries in the past year I would suggest this more conservative approach.

Now if you've been very healthy and are coming off a lot of hard training that you've handled well you could go for more like a week. Or maybe take two weeks off but do some biking and swimming or strength training during that time.

The decision is up to you, I would recommend being more conservative right now since you are so young and still have so much time to train and get faster in the future. Good Luck!

  7. Take about two weeks of only stretching. Then you can start to do easy runs 3-4 times a week, slowly build from there. You can wait until mid July to Aug. before adding once a week long run and a speed workout day.
