  1. approx 25 years

  2. Current statistics estimate that disposable nappies account for over 50% of the rubbish made by a one child family and contribute to approximately 4% of the UK's total waste. As disposable nappies may take up to 500 years to degrade and relase potentially toxic chemicals during the process, we are only just becoming aware of the environmental impact their widespread use may have.

Although many families are now choosing to use reusable cloth nappies, they are not always the most practical option especially if you are travelling, do not have much space in your home or use a childminder who prefers to use disposables. Biodegradable nappies provide a solution to this problem.

  3. the estimate for disposable nappies is 500 years, but no one knows for sure  as not one single nappy has biodegraded yet - they have only been around 25 years or so.

  4. a long time. In fact diapers fill around 20% of the Earths landfills!

  5. A very long time, it is a very real environmental problem that is only beginning to show its head.

  6. Too long.  Re-usable nappies are available now which are so much easier to use than the old ones, and it works out a lot cheaper.  I heard someone, somewhere say that every single disposible nappy ever used still exists - yuk!

  7. Let me tell u.

    Biodegradable plastic takes 500 yrs.

    A paper takes 1 month.
