Question:

How much to Australian Shepherds cost?

My dad has finally agreed: If I am responsible enough (My mom said I have been for the last few days), I can get an Aussie puppy at the beginning of next summer! I would like an intact female (Dont say to get her spayed, please, because you dont see doctors spaying humans, do you? I think it is just cruel. And anyways, it will be my dog not yours, so please just answer my questions)

Anyways my question are:

How much does a female intact registered Aussie cost/Female intact unregistered Aussie cost??

and

Please fill out this so I get a general idea of what I need to raise. If my business does not go well, the least I will have by next summer is 1200$, so for the initial puppy I think I am a LITTLE short. But if my business goes really well, I could get anywhere from 1600-2500$ by the end of next June. So, please help me and fill this out:

Food Cost Per Month:

Vet Bills First Month:

Bed:

Brush:

Leash:

Collar:

Tags For Collar:

Microchip ID:

Tattoo ID:

Training Pads:

Food/Water Dishes:

Toys:

Agility Hurdle:

Agility A-Frame:

Agility Teeter Totter:

Other:

Or at least fill out what you can. Remember, I am hoping to get a female aussie, an agility girl, so I'll probably be showing her. And I am hoping to get her between 7 and 9 weeks old

Luv,

  1. You do not care for the animal enough to get it spayed, so I do not care enough to answer your question.  You sound like a back yard breeder in training.

If she does not perform to your standards you will dump her.  I can already see it happening.

I got my Aussie for $50 at the shelter.  She's spayed, 12 years old, active, and happy.

Just wanted to add...look up vasectomy & tubal ligation.

  2. Puppies can be very expensive - i am finding out real fast

Food Cost- (puppy chow is more expensive than regular dog food) if you adopt from a shelter or rescue you may be able to get a bunch of dog food coupons that can come in handy- approximately $40/month

Vet Bills- Shots, checkup, and more shots the shelter gave her first rounds which would have cost me easily $180, 3 weeks later, another $130, when your puppy is 4 months there is the rabies shot $65...i think.  You need your rabies certificate to register your dog for tags

If nuetered the dog registration fee is much lower fee is about $15-25.  National Registration is more depending on the association and breed.

Since i got her from a shelter she was chipped for free, usually that is about $50-100

Water bowls and dishes- again if you adopt they usually give you a nice puppy packet with coupons to help offset some essentials

Toys- I've spent at least $50-$75 so far wait till they teeth and chew everything you own

    Obedience Classes- $130

I lucked out and got my puppy when she was 9 weeks old...she is a purebred catahoula which is very similar looking to australian shepards.

    Crate- $80 you need one

The agility frames and hurdles i haven't checked out yet, waiting for my puppy is grow older first.

    Good luck!

  3. $300-$1200-puppyfind.com

    $80-$110-pound or animal care center

  4. I definitely agree with the first answer.

You may be responsible for keeping your room clean at the most, but NOT for a dog, or any living creature for that matter.
