How much to become a neuro surgeon?

  1. To become a neurosurgeon, first you must graduate from university and medical school, do your internship and residency, then go on to your first specialty training in surgery and neurology. When you finish the specialty training, then you can continue on with the residency in neurosurgery. That whole process will take about 12 -15 years minimum. During that time, you won't make much money at all, but you will rack up some prodigious debts. You might expect to pay at least $175,000 to $200,000 after adding up tuition, room and board, books and equipment and all the rest. It would be slightly less if you go to a state medical school as an in-state resident.
