How much to buy a train?

I wan't to know how much it would be to buy a train. And list your sources please.

If you have about $250000 in lose change you can get a running locomotive and a few bent box cars... but you will need some track and cross ties....etc......

Heartland mail order just showed one for about $170.00

That's only with an oval (tracks) and the loc with about 4 cars.  If you want a fancier track layout, that will cost extra.

I would check that on eBay, there should be some people selling a complete set up for much less than in the open market.
