Question:

How much to charge for childcare?

I am an Infant teacher and i make $9 an hour! I am CPR certified and i was wondering how much i should charge an hour for care on weekends. should it differ depending on how many hours should there be a flat fee then hourly? I am 19 yrs old and the child i will babysit is in my class so should i be easier on the charge?

  1. I believe you can do this. I just want to warn you on getting close to the parent(s) or what have you. Keep it very professional. In Louisiana I charge the same rates for the whole week no higher on weekends $20 per day for age 3 and above; $25 per day for 2 and under. Infants and toddlers require more. I also provide food, transportation, and we also go on field trips; if it isn't anything but a trip to the park or a walk in the neighborhood.  


  2. i'm not sure of what you should charge as that would depend on the area you live in.   but, legally, make sure you can do this since this child is enrolled in your class.  some centers don't allow teachers to babysit privately for students.  just cover yourelf.
