I paid $100 to "diagnose" it and $300 to fix it ($400 total). 2 weeks later it's blowing- hard- but not cold air. They quoted me $607 more. Is this reasonable?

  1. no that's not right ,they should have been able to diagnose it and repair it right the first time,id take this one back to them and see if they wouldn't adjust the cost of repairing it some, they should have checked the system and known what was wrong with it before they ever tried to repair it,that was their mistake, unless a compressor went out on it during the time you was driving it they should be liable for repairing it,good luck.

  2. Take it bsck and DEMAND that it be fixed. If you paid the leak should have been fixed. The $100 diagnose should have exposed the leak. Don't pay another penny. Tell them you will go to small claims court and mean it. You been ripped off to begin with as it appears all that was done was a recharge. The $100 should have covered that. If you are in Ca. you can go to Bureau of Auto Repair. The address must be posted in the shop.

  3. You had better find out what's really wrong first.  I had a similar situation and it turned out that there was a leak behind something immovable, making it impossible for the mechanics to ever actually fix.  So I had to just keep getting it recharged with freon for about $100 a pop, about 3 times each summer.  In the end, I'm glad I got rid of that car.  But my point is...you need to ask questions and find out the facts.  You should also take it somewhere else and get a second opinion.

  4. You need more info. If they put dye in the system and the dye is not noticable, then obviously you have issues. Your question is way too vague. What are the readings on the gauges high and low sides, what did they replace for 400 dollars and what are they wanting to replace for 607 more.
