We are thinking about selling our foal, because we need to cut back. So how much should we put him up for? He will be (its pending) registered APHA dark bay paint, gelding. Mostly color with white, super cute movement, lovely personality, knows how to pick up feet, lead, clip, bathe, were working on trailering soon. Cute head, nice build, nice straight legs, slightly cow hocked in the back, but barely! Nice big joints, very healthy, will have good sized feet. Built nicely, and just super cute! I was thinking like $500?? We do plan on showing him, until he is sold. We are going to do in hand stuff, mabe hunter breeding? Not quite sure yet, but he has some natural collection, and is very lovable. Thanks so much!

  1. Anywhere from $750 - $500 is good. Or set it a little higher, and see what kinds of offers you get.

  2. I'd say more like $1000+ because he's going to be a nice height and he's well bred. For $500 I would expect a 14hh max, with no training. It sounds like you really worked well with him and he's going to turn out really nice.

  3. A lot of it depends on your area - also, how much flash he's got with his color and how old he is.

If you live somewhere where hay prices have skyrocketed and everyone is looking to downsize, $500 is probably good, particularly if he's breeding stock Paint or solid bay with just enough white to get by for registering - however, if you're living somewhere where horse prices are still decent and hay isn't through the roof, I'd be asking for closer to $1000 for a sweet, handsome little gelding with show prospects - particularly if his color is flashy.

It also depends on how motivated you are to sell him. Do you just need to move him quickly, or are you willing to take the time to pick out the right home for him? Lower prices equal quicker sales... but you'll know the right family for him when they show up, and if you've waited, you can negotiate for the right price for both of you at that time.

  4. Hey, id double that price at least!!!  My friend bought a colt, he didnt even know what a feed bucket was and she paid two thousand pounds, about $4000 i think??  Sounds lke u have worked hard on him and people appreciate buying a horse with basic knowledge, it goes a long way, especially with the up and coming backing and breaking work they have to put in so basics like picking feet up is great!!!  Id have a look on your local website and compare prices but im sure that $500 is very very cheap, people might even think he has a problem and stay away from him, good luck, id consider him listening to what he knows already at such a young age but i live in England x

  5. $500 sounds good to me

  6. I would say you could sell hm for $750-about $1,000 or more depending on where you live and how much people are willing to pay for him. I would pay about $750 for him. Also, I am looking for a horse right now and I have not found one yet and I would really like to know more about this horse.

If you are selling him online I would like to know where.

Thank You and I hope this helps!!!
