How much toll does a bad supervisor take on a company?

I know they can damage moral, discourage people from taking promotions, cause profit loss..what else??

They can be totally incompetent at their job.  They can have no clue about how to make the department run and after 2 years they still do not know the names of their employees and what they do

bad morale affects everything. Dept won't hit their goals. Safety and quality performance will decline. Turnover will increase.
