I would just like to know how much time and money it would take to get Bridal Planning Degree. I would also like to know if it's possible to get a Degree without a GED or a High School Education (FYI I'm not a slacker I'm just only 15 and I love planning weddings so I think it would be amazing to earn some extra money doing that. I'm pretty smart I get all A's in Honors courses).

I've all ready done a ton of resreach on wedding because I'm kinda of helping my horse trainer do hers and dI think it's supper fun even if the only job I could get was to be an Assiant for a real Bridal firm that would be fun..

Any help is a big Help.. Thanks so much!!

  1. You are not required to have a degree or any kind of formal education to become a wedding planner.  All you need is a business license, a portfolio, and some business cards.

It's great that you're only 15 and found something you're passionate about.  I agree--wedding planning can be a lot of fun.  If you really want a degree--I think something in interior design or other art fields would be what you're looking for.

In order to build a good rapport, I suggest you take photos of all of the hard work you're proud of--and make a portfolio.  Things I'd concentrate on are locations and companies you've worked with, centerpieces you helped design, party favors you put together, and other cool ideas you've come up with.

One of the major benefits to hiring a wedding planner is that they have a lot of discounts from being loyal to different venues and companies.  It's important that you build strong ties with all of your clients--florists, venues, caterers, photographers, bakers, dress shops--you name it.  It's also important that you build good relationships with the bride and groom as word of mouth is the best form of advertisement.

Whenever you hear of a wedding, even at your age, put your best foot forward and help out--take lots of pictures.  Your portfolio will be a strong asset when you go in to an actual planning office to get a job.

Good luck and keep up the good grades!
