  1. Don't know exactly, because it depends on how hard one works.  Normally 'pickers" get paid per basket.  So, more baskets filled, the more money earned.

Your earnings may be  double the minimum wage, but remember that this is "seasonal work" which means you get no overtime, no health insurance, no sick leave, no vacation time.

Your job may not last two weeks, because when the apples are picked, your job is done, and off to next farm, but after two or three months all the apples will either be picked or fallen off the trees, season over.  Aug-Oct are best picking months in midwest.

So, it you made an average of $15.00 an hour, that may sound great, but without any benefits, you'd actually be losing, compared to a job where you may make $10.00 per hr, with benefits.

You'd work daybreak to sunset, 12 hr days. If the apples and you both hold out, expect about  $180 per day.  10 days would be $1,800.

Picking apples means you work around insects, bees, often wet, muddy soil.  You will be up and down short ladders,  you will sweat and perhaps have sore muscles at end of day.  But, some people thrive with such heavy labor.

  2. Not a 'cotton picker' much!!
