  1. This probly wont help but we went to a 4H tack sale, and we bought a western saddle for $220, but they had a new english saddle in good shape, for $350

  2. girl i dont own a horse much less a saddle

  3. I think I paid around £60 - £70 each for them, all from different sellers. All English and made in England ( not foreign imports) no fantastic names and they are pre-loved (Lol)

  4. mine was A LOT! and i want impressed! my horse is a really strange shape so it had to be made to fit him.

however for a changing shape horse...try a treeless saddle or a saddle with an interchangeble gullet system! very very good for a young horse

  5. 250 second hand english style not western

  6. I got mine on ebay!

I got my black, leather, brand new, name brand english saddle for $90 +Shipping and Handling

From retail the exact same saddle costs $350!

I really recomend shopping on ebay for all your saddle needs!

I also got a really good western saddle on there for cheap!

    EBAY ROCKS!

  7. £ 2500, i dunno how  many dollars, i think something like $5000 i paid

  8. about 600 dollars but it waz firsthand your horse is not going to grow any more signifigantly but might gain more weight so you are smart to wait till now to buy a saddle

  9. Hmmm I bought my favorite saddle in the mid 1990's - it was used then , probably 5 - 10 years old. I'm still using it, so it was well worth the $800 I paid for it. Its a County Competitor, with a spring tree.

You can probably find a really good older english saddle for $350 or so, you just need to look in the right places! And a good used $350 saddle is going to be so much nicer that a brand new $350 saddle.

  10. Well...  That's going back a LONG time!  ROFLOL

I think I paid $225.00 for my 1969 Stubben Siegfried back in 1972, BUT I got with it the breast plate I still use, a bridle that got retired about 15 years ago, a fleece pad and a Baker blanket.  Good deal, huh?  It was a good deal back in '72, the saddle was like NEW then.

BTW, I STILL have that saddle and it's still in use.

  11. I bought a saddle recently for the horse I'm leasing. It's a Crosby Prix De Nations, and is it very good condition. I paid $260. Great deal on a very well-made saddle.

  12. I payed 900 for a dover close contact saddle...But it was on sale.  It is regularly 1600.  Dover has GREAT deals.  Right now they have an all purpose for either 500 or 600...It is brand new, comes with a lifetime warranty, and good quality.  I have seen secondhand ones that are a bit old, a bit used, but would be fine if you didn't show for 150-200 dollars.

    Good luck

  13. I've literally just bought one this week - an Albion Ultima - and it has cost £1,850.

Passiers are about £750-900 new but dont look as good stitching and shape wise.

An Ideal Jessica is about £1200.

Second hand saddles are about £500 - £1000 depending on age size and what you want it for.

If this is for a youngster you need to have it fitted by a saddler as any mistakes you make in the saddle could affect the way he goes.  I would try and go for a second hand saddle as he is changing shape and you will definitely need to change the saddle again - ask the saddlery you choose  if they will take the saddly you buy back in part exchange when you have to change it for another.

When the horse is established and finished its growing I would recommend that you have one made for him so that it fits him completely.

Saddles that dont fit properly cause so many problems and yet can go untdetected.

They are a very necessary but very expensive evil!!

The price of the saddle does not include the girth, the leathers and the irons - all of that will be separate and extra.

My husband says he doesnt know why we bother with horses - he could just dig a hole in the ground and simply throw the money in!
