I'm getting married July 2nd, 2009. I know alot of times the brides father pays for the wedding, we'll be lucky if her parents will even show. I plan on paying out of my pocket and I want to give her the wedding she always dreamed of. Of course, I'm sure she would like her loser parents there as well, but as I said, they're losers.

  1. Mine was almost 3,000. total. I paid for my wedding dress and the wedding site we got married at. My mother paid for the pictures and reception. We had it in Las Vegas and we loved it!

  2. Mine was close to 40,000, and my husband and his family paid for it.  We are Chinese, and traditionally, the groom's side of the family pays.

  3. Im getting married in january 09 and my fiance (the groom) is paying for it. All up including the honeymoon its $22000. No family is helping, but the honeymoon is our registry so hopefully some of that comes off the total. Im paying for the flowers and cake though which is nearly 2000, and anything else I can afford ill pay for. We are in it together so its our cost.

  4. Ours is costing around $6000, that's for 65 guests and a sit down 3 course meal reception. The celebrant, the flowers, the invitations etc, etc.... NOT including Honeymoon, we arnt having one.

My fiance and i are paying for most of it. Well i say the both of us because we dont class our money as his or hers. We are a family with two kids and any money that comes into our household is family money. My mum and stepdad are putting $1000 towards it and my dad and my step mum are paying for my dress and my two daughters flower girl dresses. Plus they are paying for our photographer as a wedding gift.

    So we are paying $5000

    Mum and step dad $1000

Dad and step mum $600 (total for the dresses)

+ Photographer, but i dont know how much that is, as it is a gift!

You don have to have an expensive wedding for it to be wonderful, you will be amazed waht you can do on a budget.

  5. $5,000. My family put in half and my husband and I did the rest. But we were very blessed and had people offer to help with stuff. (his mom did the cake and a friend of ours bought the favors)

but still... low budget weddings ARE possible. Too many people spend a ton of money. Its one day.... then its over. Im glad we didnt waste a bunch of money or go in debt over it.

  6. 8,000....13 years ago. My mother and father paid for it.

  7. my wedding was about $75,000.00 with everything including honeymoon and me and my husband pay for it together. why?

  8. Well our wedding and honey-moon cost about $20,000.00. We paid for most of it out of pocket cash (we were engaged almost 2 years) so we saved a lot in two years! I also bargain shopped for everything and kept my eyes out for deals. I didn't settle on any thing and got everything I really wanted (all but better in-laws) but that a whole other story.

Saving helped us out a lot and made it very stress free. Also many bridal shows have great deals, web sites and Micheal's and Joann's crafts have coupons that you can use to buy big tag items!

  9. We had a small informal wedding that probably came up to less than $1,000, and we paid for it ourselves, along with paying for the honeymoon (a 10-day cruise). We're over 30, so there was no expectation of our families to pay for anything.

  10. Our wedding hasn't happened yet.  Our budget is $20k - including wedding ceremony, reception, & rehearsal dinner but not including honeymoon.

Of our budget, I'm paying 75% groom is paying 25%.  This is just how it worked out with our current work situations and salaries.

My Mom is throwing us an engagement party, which is not part of our budget.

  11. Our wedding, including the honeymoon was about $12,000.  That includes the reception, invitations, favors, photographer, DJ, and officiant, etc. (this is Putnam County, NY)

My husband and I paid for it ourselves.  My boss loaned me the money and we paid him back after the wedding with the money we received as gifts.  We had a little left over to pay off the credit card I put the honeymoon on.

My dad gave me $300 to pay for the cost of the flowers.  My mom bought my dress (they're divorced).

My sister bought my wedding jewelry and my bridesmaid bought our toasting flutes.

  12. 13,000 with honeymoon.  My parents paid for almost everything, we are putting out a little for the honeymoon, but it depends still on how many people come to the reception.  Our budget from my parents was $12500.. so we got lucky.
