How much water are you recommended to drink a day?

At school we were having a debate about how much water you are recommended to drink each day. Some say 2 litre, others say 8 litres. Does anyone have any proof or sources that scientifically state how much water you are supposed to drink?

Thanks in advanced.

  1. Thanks for the help with my email problem last week.

The answer used to be 8 - 8oz glasses.   This has supposedly changed reciently.    It is supposedly however much you feel like drinking.   Sounds stupid to me.   I am sure the 8 x 8oz of some liquid  is closer to accurate.    Also, hydration depends on how much you are loosing.   Outside, summer, working would require more

  2. 8- 16 ounce glasses a day.

  3. i was watching a t.v. show on discovery the other day and there was a group of nutritionists conducting an experiment on two twin human hamsters. one had to live on water for a whole week and the other wasnt allowed a drop.

one week later they took some blood and urine samples and the results showed that there wasnt much difference between them,

the one that lived with no water got it from the fruits and veggies she was eating.

but ur better off drinking it, than eating it
