How much water should I drink to counteract sodium?

I am trying to loose weight, and I am hoping that loosing quick water weight will help get me a nice head start and motivation to keep loosing weight. I know that drinking water can help with water weight because your body does not need to store the water. I am starting off with a base of 64 ounces of water, but on hot days and when sweaty I will add more water to that. In addition, I want to to drink more than just the 64 base ounces because I am overweight.

I know that sodium can cause bloating, and I want to be able to counter high sodium meals I happen to eat. (I eat fast food every Sunday with my youth group, but I am going to start eating smaller portions). I was wondering how much water (ounces per grams etc.) I should drink in order to counteract higher sodium intake.

Thanks for the help!

  1. More than 3 litres a day will dilute your sodium levels. this is unhealthy and you shouldn't be aiming for it.

drinking crazy amounts of water won't help you drop weight either... i don't know where you got that from.

people who try to get rid of water are the body builders who cut salt out completely and don't drink water for a day or two before their competition. it helps theget ripped since they are so dehydrated they don't have waterin the flesh surrounding all ther muscles.

if you want to loose weight do other stuff. so many other ways. don't try and dilute your sodium levels. thats not healthy.. and plus it won't really work.
